Hello, everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't updated much. I don't remember if I mentioned it before, but for the last four months I was in Japan with a full time teaching job! I was way too busy and tired to do any art, but it was an amazing experience and totally worth it. I made so many good friends and learned a lot about teaching. A lot of my students were really talented artists, too! It filled me with motivation to finish my degree and return as soon as possible.

Now, moving forward, I'm back in school, so I'll still be busy but not nearly as busy as I was when I was teaching (I hope). At this exact moment, I don't have my stylus for my Surface (I was a dork and left it at my dad's house, d'oh) but the good news is, I traded an album art commission for a brand new powerhouse of a computer, and bought a Cintiq with the money I saved up! We put the computer together at my friend's house, and set up the Cintiq over there as well. However, the entire city has become a frozen death trap for drivers (since we're not really prepared for snow), so it's stuck there until the roads thaw out. But, I have tried it and I will tell you that working on it is like a dream. Hopefully I can start drawing again soon.

Regarding commissions, I can actually stream now, so I have decided to change things up drastically. I'm not sure exactly how, but I'm hoping to make them related to my streaming, and more interactive. It will probably look more like requests for those with cute characters who regularly visit the streams and/or give tips/donations (AKA, flattery gets you everywhere hahaha). I can't really call them "commissions" because it will be more based on what I feel like doing rather than an actual paid service. For now I will probably just consider them "closed with a few exceptions" while I get more into the swing of things.

All in all, I've made up my mind to leave my financial problems to future me and have my expenses covered by student loans rather than constantly panicking about where I'm going to find my next commissioner so I can afford this or that. A job is much less fun when it's not even providing enough for you to survive. I'd rather spend the time enjoying art and developing my skills/style so I can feel more prepared to tackle larger projects when I graduate. I hope this "reset period" that I'm giving myself will prove to be beneficial.

Anyway, thank you all for your continued support. We're already a good ways in to 2017, but let's work together to make the rest of it great.

♡ Mimi
